It worked off of one usb input but has a Y cable in case it needs more power. Using 2 inputs would upset me, but it didn't need it and worked off of only one of the usb cables. Just plugged it in to my computer, cd went right to itunes. DVD up and played with DVD player. A disc must be manually inserted by pushing a button on the unit.
