During single player campaign, the players assume the role of different characters, which changes perspectives in the entire game.

The characters that are playable in Call of Duty Black OPS are the special forces operatives who are conducting black operations. Every mission features several objectives, which are displayed on heads-up display that marks the distance and direction towards and from those objectives like in previous versions. Players are accompanied by friendly troops. Even if it’s a first-person shooter, particular levels feature sequences wherein player pilots Hind helicopter and offers guidance to the friendly troops.
