Yahoo’s outgoing mail server can be used also into an email client like Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook. That is, you can send emails with your Yahoo account using a desktop application instead of its normal webmail service.

The Mail application attempts to send mail through the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol () server it thinks is the default outgoing email server. However, you can specify a preferred outgoing mail server for each account you add to the Mail application in Mac OS X and macOS. Plus, the setup process is very easy. Only remember that if you plan to send bulk emails, Yahoo puts a limit of 500 emails/day and 100 recipients/email to its outgoing mail server: moreover, even if you split your database into smaller chunks and organize different mailings, Yahoo’s SMTP server won’t be able to guarantee a full delivery rate. That’s why it’s better to choose a professional SMTP server like turboSMTP: you can subscribe and get immediately. And now, here’s how to configure your mail client. First of all open the configuration window: and then fill the fields with Yahoo’s outgoing mail server settings, which are: • Yahoo outgoing mail server address: smtp.mail.yahoo.com • Yahoo outgoing mail server user name: your Yahoo Mail account • Yahoo outgoing mail server password: your Yahoo Mail password • Yahoo outgoing mail server port: 465 or 587 (for further information, check our article about ).

Hello, As of this morning I have been unable to send mail from Apple's Mail application on my laptop (running OS X 10.11.6). Opening Connection Doctor shows that neither of my Yahoo accounts can connect to their SMTP servers. I am able to connect to the IMAP servers and recieve email. I can send email through the web browser or from Apple's iOS mail application. The FAQ instructs me to enable ' Allow apps that use less secure sign in' but that option does not exist on my Account Security page. Has the option moved or been removed in an update?

Is there a new procedure for connecting a third party mail application to Yahoo mail? Thanks, Josh. This problem has not been solved. I have followed all the instructions, worked with Apple Techs and engineers and still STMP does not work for outgoing mail. Apple insists that it is a Yahoo server problem.

Yahoo Customer support via a one e-mail a day just repeats the same line, but no success. Incoming mail does work, but with a twist. Sometimes if I move a message from my Mac Inbox to another folder, usually trash but also to another folder, 10 minutes later or so it reappears in my Inbox. But low and behold, if I go to the web and look at Yahoo mail, the returned message actually overwrites a new message that I cannot see in my Mac Inbox. What I see on the Web Yahoo page is the new message with the trashed email where it is supposed to be. (Everything on my iPhone works fine) If I delete the message from my Max Inbox, the Trash folder shows two deleted messages, same sender, etc.
