Hello, I got some notification to update my adobe flash player that looked really genuine, but unfortunately it was not because it caused by antivirus AVG free to signal a Trojan was found and was being quarantined. Obviously AVG did not fix it because now my desktop icons can no longer be clicked and my right mouse button is disabled.

I have not restarted since becoming infected for fear that the virus would get deeper into the system. The system was somewhat OK after infection, so I held off coming here for help, so I could keep using the laptop going for important work. Now, the desktop icons do not left click (or right click), and I am forced to restart to restore the functionality. I would like some help to remove this.

Like I said previously, the desktop icons are not functional, there was a trojan warning after I click to update the 'fake' adobe flash player update, and it kept trying to make me update it again and again. I have not taken any action, because I need my computer to keep functioning for a critical program that I am running on it. I am afraid if I reboot my machine, that the virus will get deeper into my system and require more extensive cleaning. I would rather just follow your instructions from the start, than venture out on my own and have more damage done to my system. You have helped me in the past when I first tried to remove the virus myself and wasted a lot of time, so I want to just have you walk me through the process this time.

I am unable to run DDS.com for a log file. Windows explorer is no longer functioning. It may come back if I reboot, but I don't want to without following your instructions. I originally ran the DDS.com program from a flash drive, but I am unable to access this anymore. I am running Windows7 64bit. I can't get anymore details from my PC because control panel will not open. The system was originally 64bit Vista and I have the original disks for that, but it has been upgraded to 64bit Win7 with an upgrade disk.
